DelhiWood is deemed as one of Asia’s largest sourcing platform for furniture manufacturers, wood-based handicraft manufacturers, saw millers, craftsmen, woodworking professionals, builders, architects and interior designers in the region.
Spanning across 25,000 square metres in exhibition space, visitors will be able to see the latest in woodworking solutions comprising machineries, materials and components. Fair organisers are expecting a 20 percent increase in exhibitors with more than 450 leading global brands from 30 countries.
The exhibition area will be divided into two categories – machinery and non-machinery. Countries such as Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Taiwan and USA will set up their respective pavilions to enable visitors to locate and identify products of their choice with ease.
DelhiWood is an ideal avenue for Malaysian manufacturers to showcase their ware as our timber products are sought-after in India. It is also a good place to expand business opportunities as India is one of the world’s fastest growing economies.
India’s imports from Malaysia have also been on the rise. In 2015, the value of major timber and timber products exported to India amounted to RM1,890.5 million, an increase of 6.3% compared with 2014.
Logs, wooden furniture, sawntimber, BCJ, particleboard and plywood comprised 90% or RM1,704.2 million of Malaysia’s export to India in 2015. Other timber products also recorded sharp increases in exports in 2015 compared with 2014. Export of sawntimber was valued at RM131.2 million (+180.6%), veneer at RM6.2 million (+110.8%), MDF at RM16.8 million (+96.1%), wooden furniture at RM150.7 million (+9.2%), BCJ at RM68.1 million (+7.5%) and moulding at RM6.9 million (+2.4%).
