Company: Anggun Sofa& Interior Sdn Bhd
Browsing through websites that display interior designs or home furniture is always a visual feast. Anggun Sofa & Interior Sdn Bhd (Anggun Sofa) offers the same feeling with its minimalistic and simplistic design approach online displaying its wide selection of furniture some of them in bold colours too.
Formerly known as Anggun Deco & Furniture Sdn Bhd, Anggun Sofa was set up in 2004 by Ms. Kamariah Mohamad Zainon, who is also the Managing Director.
“We started with upholstery services and were keen on the furniture-making business as there are many opportunities in providing custom-made designs which we enjoy doing,” said Ms. Kamariah.
In Anggun Sofa’s stable of products are living room, dining and bedroom furniture sets as well as kitchen cabinets. The company also produces sofas, arm and wing chair, ottoman, stools, and coffee tables. Its bedroom sets also comprise headboards, divans, and side tables. Most of its wooden furniture are made of Rubberwood, Merbau and Meranti.
“We export our products mainly to the United States, Poland and Finland and have an impressive selection of ready to assemble wooden furniture,” she said.
Anggun Sofa, which was part of MTC’s On-Job-Training Programme (OJT), said the Malaysian Timber Council (MTC) has done well by introducing the OJT as it seems to be encouraging more Malaysians to join the furniture industry whilst giving employers the confidence to hire locals.
“MTC is providing some good programmes for companies like us. The Council is also encouraging us to hire locals and are providing us the guidance,” said Ms. Kamariah.
Anggun Sofa has 12 employees and is keen to expand its workforce with the right pool of talents.
“We need youngsters to infuse new blood into the business so there can be new ideas, amongst others,” added the owner of Anggun Sofa.
