Certification Standards & Process
MTCS certification follows two key standards:
- MC&I (Natural Forest) – For assessing sustainable natural forest management.
- MC&I (Forest Plantations) – For ensuring responsible plantation forestry.
The certification process is transparent, participatory, and inclusive, involving government agencies, environmental groups, and industry stakeholders. It upholds the three pillars of sustainability—environmental, social, and economic—ensuring a balanced approach to forestry.
Types of MTCS Certification
Forest Management Certification
Awarded to Forest Management Units (FMUs) that comply with sustainable forestry principles.
Chain of Custody Certification
Ensures that manufacturers and exporters use certified timber, guaranteeing full traceability from forest to final product.
